Excellent product Average rating: After 12 years of dealing with constantly having to turn the dial down and up to get the correct temperature, I finally decided to upgrade to a digital thermostat. When I went to install the unit my wires didn’t match with the directions. The wires coming out of the wall had two white wires and one of the white wires was hooked up to where a yellow wire should have been, If your wires coming out of the wall are not the proper colors, I drew a diagram of the old system showing how the wires were hooked up on the old thermostat and I took close up pictures just in case.
Since one of the two white wires was being used as a yellow wire, I assumed it should be hooked up that way on the new one. I called customer service on a Saturday, and provided the female all of the old thermostat information and she looked it up in the computer and confirmed that I should continue to use the white wire as a yellow wire. The little paper labels they give you to mark the wires is a great idea, but they kept falling off, so I used color markers to mark the wires.

Super Thermostat I have two heat pumps to heat and cool my house. The house layout is such that there is no path from one part of the house to another for a big old air duct and two of them offer redundancy in case of failure. I really appreciate your info and it gives me a lot of ideas. One problem with any manual thermostat solution that’s not automatic is this: I could trivially put another switch breaking the thermostat line on the wall near the door, but it’s not exactly what I need. The scenario that I’m trying to avoid is that my wife has a garage control on her key-chain and has accidentally hit it a couple of times in her pocket or purse.
Reader question: I just picked up a new Trane programmable thermostat for our air conditioner/heat pump system. When I took the front off the current honeywell thermostat, it looks like there are quite a few more wires than what the new thermostat will accept.
I like to make a cup of drip coffee in the morning, and although the coffee pot didn’t require a pure sine wave inverter, some things do, so that was my choice. Rather than adding a transfer switch, I added a dedicated outlet on the side of the sink. The remote is located in the front of the sink cabinet. While the ProWatt inverter remote will shut off the inverter completely, I added a heavy duty amp switch since I prefer to have a way other than the fuse to disconnect the input wiring to the inverter.
I also moved the trailer disconnect switch forward so that it is easier to reach when the dinette is made into a bed something I have pretty much done permanently. The next additions are some fancy hooks.
Fixed My House Thermostat
Over the past 6 months or so I’ve noticed a drop in highway mpg from to approx After checking out a number of forum discussions particularly bimmerfest and some European d forums , I thought possibly my thermostat was malfunctioning, with resultant low engine temps. So a low engine temperature for the diesels may cause poor mpg, burn out of glow plugs, and DPF malfunction.
This link on bimmerfest gives an excellent overview of the issue. As said by lpcapital in post 5:
Let your contractor hook up the new wire to the furnace and turn on the furnace’s power. Now snap the thermostat’s face onto the bracket. When it lights up, follow the prompts to set the temperatures you want the house to be when you wake up, leave for work, return home, and go to bed.
The Bellmen lobbied unsuccessfully to keep said hot tub. Taking down these walls allowed the extremely-frigid Canadian winter air to bombard exposed pipes. The pipes burst shocker! I awoke Monday morning to a call from work. Ceiling tiles hung precariously. Office computers buzzed as they shorted out. There was an eerie silence.
Cue the horror movie score. Even though the upper floors were unaffected I spent the next several hours evacuating guests. We drafted other staff members to act as temporary bellmen, though none of them rose to my level of snark. The hotel was devoid of guests and the water had been sucked up and pushed out the front doors seriously!
The truth is, travelers are cheaper and more hostile than ever.
